Director of Children’s Early Years
Ashley Vanderlaan is the Director of the Children’s Early Years Division at the County of Wellington, where she has served since 2025. She brings over a decade of leadership experience from the City of Hamilton’s Public Health Services, where she managed multidisciplinary teams in evaluation, strategic planning, community engagement, public health policy, data analytics, and health promotion, and contributed to the Emergency Management response during COVID‑19. Her early career as an epidemiologist and research analyst strengthened her commitment to equity, community development, and supporting healthy child and family outcomes. At the County, Ashley is proud to work alongside an exceptional team, advancing a shared commitment to strengthen the local licensed child care system and improve accessibility, affordability, and availability for all families. As a Guelph resident and parent who has navigated the licensed child care system herself, she is deeply motivated to create better experiences for women, families, and young children across the community.
