How many items can I borrow from the library?

There is a maximum of 50 items borrowed per card. There are no limits by type of item (book, magazine, CD, DVD etc.). Picture 1

How long may I borrow materials?

Lightning Loans, DVDs, Video Games, Magazines & CD-ROMs are on loan for 1 week. All other materials are on loan for 3 weeks.

How can I find out when my library materials are due?

You may ask staff at any of the library branches in person or by phone or by reviewing your account on the Library's online catalogue.

How do I see what materials I have on my card using the online catalogue ?

To Review Your Account:

  1. Select My Account from the home page of the library catalogue.
  2. Enter your library card number and PIN.
  3. You can review your personal information, current checkouts, holds, fines and requests from the My Account home page.

Must I return materials I have borrowed to the branch where I got them?

Library materials may be returned to any Wellington County Library branch. After hours return chutes are available at each branch for all library materials.

What are the fines on overdue materials?

Fines are:

  • Books (except Lightning Loans), music CDs, Magazines, Books on tape, Books on CD and Pedometers: 25 cents per day per item. $5.00 maximum per item.
  • Lightning Loans,DVDs, Video Games and CD-ROMS: $1.00 per day per item. $5.00 maximum per item.

Can I renew my library materials?

Materials may be renewed in person at the circulation desk of any branch, by phoning any library branch, or on the Internet through "My Account" in the library's online catalogue. If there is a hold for another patron on an item, or if you have already renewed the item, you will not be allowed to renew it.

How do I renew materials using the Enterprise online catalogue?

To renew materials:

  1. Select My Account from the of the home page of the Enterprise catalogue.
  2. Log in with your library card and PIN.
  3. Click on the Checkouts tab.
  4. Select the boxes beside the items that you would like to renew.
  5. Click the Renew button at the top or bottom of the list of checkouts.
  6. Confirm that you want to renew the selected items.
  7. Confirm that the items did renew. If there was a problem, there will be a note in red below the item in your Checkouts list.

Must I pay my fines before I can take out library materials?

When a borrower has over $5.00 in fines and/or replacement charges, borrowing privileges will be suspended until the fines are paid.

What do I do if I have accidentally damaged or lost library material?

For material lost or damaged beyond repair, as determined by library staff, you will be charged the cost of replacing the item plus a $3.00 processing fee. If at a later time, a lost item is found and returned, at the Branch Supervisors discretion, you will be refunded the cost of the item upon presentation of payment receipt and item.

What are Lightning Loans?

Lightning Loans are current adult fiction and DVD bestsellers. You can only borrow them for 7 days and you cannot renew them. Lightning Loans are not available for holds, but there are other copies available that you can place holds on.
