Have you ever walked in Someone Else's Shoes? With over 30 pairs of shoes on display, come explore stories from the Museums footwear collection dating from the 1880s to the 1970s. Every shoe has a story. Also, inspired and on display with the shoe collection are paintings by local artist Meredith Blackmore of Fergus.
"Painting shoes allowed me a kind of freedom that portraiture doesn't always. Because shoes are objects that sit on a surface they cast marvellous shadow shapes that beg for a treatment of form and colour first, likeness second. And the shoes couldn't tell me their story, exactly, so this was an added spark of mystery in the subject and in the painting process," Meredith says.
