Accessibility Policies

As a service provider, it is important that we provide high-quality, accessible services to residents. We recognize the diverse needs of all  our residents and respond by striving to provide goods, services and facilities that are accessible to all. The County will strive to meet the accessibility needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner.

The County will meet or exceed the regulations made under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), 2005. Timelines will vary. For more information on timelines, check out our Multi-Year Accessibility Plan.

The County will make sure that:

  • Goods and services be provided in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of people with disabilities.
  • Services will be integrated unless a different method is necessary.
  • Equal opportunity will be given to people with disabilities.
  • An explanation will be provided, upon request, if the County is unable to incorporate accessibility criteria when purchasing goods or services.
  • The County will allow people with disabilities to use their own personal assistive devices to access services offered by the County.

The County's AODA policy addresses the following:

Support Persons

People with disabilities can bring a support person to any County-owned facility. The County will waive any admission fee for the support person.
