CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

If you, or someone you know, would enjoy any of the following volunteer roles, please contact Mary Black at 519.846.5359 x 7266, or at maryb@wellington.ca

WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING TO FILL THE FOLLOWING FOUR ROLES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE:

1.    Dining Room Assistance

We are looking for volunteer assistance in our resident dining rooms for all weekend and evening meals. In this role, you would be assisting residents who can no longer assist themselves at meal time. This shift would consist of 1.5 hours any evening between 5pm and 6:30pm, or any weekend meal (8am to 9:30am, 12pm to 1:30pm or 5pm to 6:30pm).

2.    Occupational Therapy Clinic Wednesday Afternoons

For this volunteer role, we are looking for someone to support our OT staff by helping residents to and from their appointments, from their room to our OT room within the Home. This shift consists of every Wednesday afternoon each week, from 2pm to 5pm; even one hour of commitment between those times would be appreciated

3.    Thursday Evening Sing and Social Programme Support

Our Recreation Staff host an hour of socializing while enjoying musical entertainment everything Thursday evening, either in our large hall or outside in the front garden on warm summer nights. We are looking for volunteers to help our staff with assisting residents to and from this programme, serving refreshments and sitting with the residents while they enjoy the music. This shift consists of 2 hours, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm

4.    Saturday Afternoon Ice Cream Parlour

Our Recreation Staff serve ice cream on Saturday afternoons in our large hall, and require assistance from volunteers in helping residents to and from this programme, serving ice cream, and sitting with the residents to enjoy a conversation. This shift consists of approximately 2 hours, from 1:30 to 3:30pm

ONGOING ROLES THAT ARE AVAILABLE YEAR ROUND OR SEASONALLY:

One to One Visiting

Some of our residents would greatly benefit from one to one conversational visits, one to one games, and strolls outside in the nice weather.

Musical Entertainment

For our small and large group special events and theme programmes, we are always looking for volunteers who enjoy playing an instrument or singing for our residents.

No One Dies Alone Programme

This role supports our residents who are palliative - at the end stage of life - by sitting with them, and perhaps their loved ones, so that they are not alone at this time.

Small Group Bingo Programme

We are looking for one or two volunteers to run an early evening Bingo programme in our Birch Dale and Walnut Grove neighbourhoods; Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45pm

Sunday Chapel Service Assistance

We are looking for volunteers to assist our Recreation Staff every Sunday from 1:30 to 3:00pm, to bring residents to and from the Sunday church service.

Biking Buddies

We are so fortunate to own a few accessible bicycles that volunteers can take residents out for rides on the local trail behind our Home. This is a very rewarding role for volunteers 18 years of age and older

Van Driver

We have an accessible van available for resident appointments, and we are looking for volunteers to drive for occasional appointments. Our Volunteer Drivers must be 25 years of age or older, able to provide a clean driving abstract and liability insurance, and are comfortable and confident in their driving skills. There is always a volunteer escort to accompany the volunteer and resident as well.
