The Therapeutic Recreation department focuses on individual needs while respecting freedom of choice. Residents may participate as much or as little as they wish. Families and friends are welcomed and encouraged to participate in activities. Programme activities are also offered on scheduled weekends and evenings throughout the month. Each Resident Home Area receives their own activity calendar outlining the programmes and services offered that month
An activity schedule is created monthly and posted in the resident home areas. Each neighbourhood features programmes and events that respond to the care level of the residents who reside in the area.
The Social Services Worker is available for such services as, advocacy on behalf of the resident and families, supportive counselling, and assistance with adjustment to the new environment.
The Social Services Worker facilitates the Residents' Council meeting, Spousal Support Group, and Welcome Committee.
Restorative Care strives to provide residents in long term care with the best quality of life possible. Restorative Care involves an inter-disciplinary approach to promote the highest level of functioning that the resident can attain. This may be achieved through exercise, nutrition, optimal communication and social interaction between staff and residents.
