NO CURRENT CLOSURES AT

WELLINGTON TERRACE

Infection Control Practices at Wellington Terrace

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in helping control the spread of infectious illness.  Today, long term care homes are challenged with the growing number of antibiotic resistant bacteria and the increasing prevalence of viral illnesses in this otherwise immune-compromised population.  Our annual influenza vaccination campaign takes place in late October to early November.  We strongly encourage our families and friends to also seek annual immunization as an additional means of protecting those you love.

If visitors, friends and family members are experiencing ANY respiratory symptoms please do not visit the Terrace until your illness is resolved.  (5 to 7 days).  Symptoms include:

  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Chills
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Runny nose
  • Nasal Congestion
  • Body aches

In addition, please do not visit if you are experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, or nausea.  Proper hand washing can aid in the prevention of illness.  Together we can protect our residents.  Please use the hand sanitizers located throughout the building before and after visiting the residents.  For further information about respiratory and gastric outbreak, you can contact Wellington Dufferin Public Health at 519 846 2715 or 1 800 265 7293, ext 4161.
