Child Care Subsidy

Child Care Subsidy is help to pay for licensed child care. Child Care Subsidy is for children ages 0 to 12 years.

To get help paying for child care you must be eligible based on your family income and have a reason for child care.

There are three steps to apply for Subsidy:

  1. When you call, we ask about your family and your need for child care. This information helps us to know if you are eligible to apply for Subsidy. If you are, a meeting is booked for you in Guelph, Fergus, or Mount Forest so we can review your information.
  2. At the meeting we review your family's need for child care and your financial information. This tells us if you are eligible for subsidy to help pay for child care, the amount of child care that can be covered by subsidy, and what your share of the cost of child care may be. Please bring this information to the meeting.
  3. You choose a licensed child care programme from a list that we provide for you. The programme you choose must be able to take children who are subsidized.
