Child Care Subsidy

Child Care Subsidy is help to pay for licensed child care. Child Care Subsidy is for children ages 0 to 12 years.

To get help paying for child care you must be working, going to school or looking for work and you must be eligible based on your family income.

There are three steps to apply for Subsidy:

  1. When you call, we ask about your family and your need for child care. A time is booked for you to meet in one of our appointment locations so we can review your information.
  2. At the meeting we review your family and financial information. This tells us if you can receive subsidy to help pay for child care, and what your share of the cost may be. Bring this information to the meeting.
  3. You choose a licensed child care programme from a list that we provide for you. The programme you choose must be able to take children who are subsidized.

Your share of the child care cost is based on your income tax information (line 236 of the Federal Income Tax return).This chart shows examples of what your share of the cost might be:
