When there is available funding, grant applications are offered to child care operators. One-time funding grants are to help programmes with their operational and capital costs.
These funds are to help pay for repairs or purchases for the programme to meet legislated requirements. Funding can be used for health and safety practices, the upkeep of equipment, property repairs and maintenance.
Non-Profit and For-Profit operators can apply for Repairs and Maintenance Expense funds.
These funds are to help pay for minor renovations to existing child care programmes making changes to serve children birth to four years. Funding can be used for minor renovations needed inside (walls, washrooms) and outside (playground) the centre.
Non-Profit programmes only can apply for Capital Retrofits Expense funds.
These funds are intended to cover one-time costs for child care operators that are involved in business transformation activities and/or require business transformation supports. Funding can be used for costs associated with start-up operational costs such as supplies and equipment; business planning costs; IT upgrades and moving costs. Funding can also be used for other associated costs related to business transformation including amalgamation; relocation and retrofitting.
Non-Profit programmes only can apply for Transformation Expense funds.
These funds are to help child care operators to create enriching environments that are developmentally appropriate and promote children's exploration and learning through play, consistent with the principles of the Early Learning Framework. Funding can be used for Play-Based Materials and Equipment that are consistent with the principles of the Early Learning Framework as well as non-consumable supplies/equipment that supports the regular operation of the child care programme (kitchen supplies; IT; etc).
Non-Profit and For-Profit operators can apply for Play-Based Materials and Equipment Expense funds.
These funds are to help pay for the start-up costs to existing operators who have a third party contract to offer before and after school care with a local school board. These operators must have a plan in place to support their current child care spaces for children birth to four years. Funding can be used for supplies, equipment and moving expenses.
