The County of Wellington is requesting approval from the Government of Ontario for the construction of an 11 unit affordable housing building for families in Palmerston. 

Through the Government of Canada's 2016 Social Infrastructure Fund and the Government of Ontario's Investment in Affordable Housing Programme, funding in the amount of $1.5M has been allocated for the construction of affordable housing for families in Palmerston.  Formerly the Palmerston O.P.P. Detachment, the County owns the property located at 250 Daly Street, and plans to start construction in the spring of 2017.

Investment in Affordable Housing for Ontario

Rent Support

The County of Wellington Rent Support Programme is designed to help address rental affordability for households.  Rental assistance is offered to clients based on depth of subsidy required.  For additional information review guidelines or call Kevin Priestley 519.824.7822 x 4330. 


Wellington Affordable Homeownership Down Payment Loan Fund


The Wellington Affordable Homeownership Down Payment Loan Fund was established to provide households with an interest-free loan to assist them in purchasing their own home. The programme will assist eligible applicants with a down payment (up to 10% of the purchase price to a maximum of $20,000.) for the purchase of a home within the geographic area of the County of Wellington or the City of Guelph.

Applications will be accepted on a first come first approved basis, subject to the availabity of funding.
