GUELPH- At its annual inaugural meeting today, Joanne Ross-Zuj, Mayor of Centre Wellington, was re-elected to the position of Warden by Wellington County Council.
Warden Ross-Zuj has over 16 years of municipal government experience. She has represented the constituents of Centre Wellington since 1993. In 2006, she was elected Mayor of Centre Wellington. In addition to her impressive political resumé, Warden Ross-Zuj was also school teacher for 27 years.
Three-time County of Wellington Warden, John Green, remarked “2009 was a challenging year in Wellington County. Warden Ross-Zuj’s passion, energy and effective leadership made her an excellent Warden and much was accomplished under her direction. Wellington County is in very capable hands for 2010.”
Scott Wilson, County of Wellington Chief Administrative Officer, is looking forward to another year under Warden Ross-Zuj’s leadership. “She brings over 16 years political experience to the role of Warden. Her hard work, dedication and commitment to the job is commendable. 2010 is going to be another busy year in Wellington. County Council and staff look forward to working with Warden Ross-Zuj.”
“It’s been a great honour to serve as Wellington County Warden for 2009,” said Ross-Zuj. “I am looking forward to continuing the great progress we are making on the many issues that our local residents are facing.
