HARRISTON, ON- On Thursday, June 10, 2021 a video was posted to the TikTok social networking platform with disturbing references to the recent murder of the Afzaal and Salman family in London. The video has been viewed by local municipal officials and Wellington County OPP.

The individuals seen in the video participate in services offered by the County of Wellington. The hurt expressed in the video is felt not only within the Muslim community, but by County staff as well.

In support of all those impacted, the Warden of the County and the Mayor of Minto issued the following joint statement:

“The anti-Muslim sentiment expressed in this disgusting video is abhorrent to the residents of Wellington County and the Town of Minto, and all efforts must be used to denounce hatred in all its forms. Islamaphobia and all forms of racism have no place in our community, and we must ensure that messages of hate and fear fall on deaf ears,” said Warden Kelly Linton and Mayor George Bridge.
