Discover Local Food and Agriculture on the Fall Rural Romp
Wellington County and Guelph, Ont. – Experience the local harvest at the annual Taste Real Fall Rural Romp, on Saturday, September 30 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Rompers will have the opportunity to taste and experience their way through Southern Wellington County and Guelph on this self-guided farm and food tour.
“Wellington County is deeply rooted in agriculture,” states Jeff Duncan, Wellington County Economic Development Committee Chair. “The Rural Romp is an excellent opportunity for farms and food businesses to open their doors to the public, showcase what they do, and build direct connections with potential customers while being a fun-filled day for adventurers and families alike.”
22 different locations will be open to the public to explore. Highlights for this year’s romp include farm tours, wagon rides, sampling, farm animals, greenhouse visits, nature hikes, pumpkin picking, free trees from the Green Legacy Nursery, and hands-on learning activities for all ages.
“This year's romp features many new host locations in addition to some returning, popular destinations,” says Christina Mann, Manager of Economic Development for the County of Wellington. “Rompers will have plenty of opportunities to discover local food and drink, kick off the fall season with farm experiences, and learn more about agriculture here in the County.”
Participants are encouraged to share their Rural Romp adventures on social media using the hashtags #RuralRomp and #TasteReal and participate in a Rural Romp treasure hunt by answering questions at each location for a chance to win one of three $100 gift certificates to a local food business.
Fall Rural Romp locations, information, and an interactive map are available at www.tastereal.ca. Printed Romp Maps are available at all participating locations. There is no admission charge to participate but some locations require a fee to access certain activities.
