The County And All Seven Member Municipalities Announce Immediate Relief Measures

Posted On Tuesday March 24, 2020

WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON – The County and its local municipalities recognize that residents and businesses may experience financial strain and economic impact during the COVID-19 outbreak and that municipal office closures may affect payments owed to the municipalities.

As a first step, the County and all seven member municipalities intend to waive all penalties and interest on both tax and water/sewer payments on 2020 amounts for 60 days from the due date. This will ensure that residents and businesses who find themselves facing financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic can defer their next property tax installment without penalty. Property tax accounts will be adjusted as necessary to reflect these relief measures. For more information on local relief efforts, please contact your local municipal office.

“These initial relief measures reflect the County and all seven member municipalities’ concern for our residents and businesses well-being and economic conditions,” said Warden Kelly Linton. “We will continue to work together and respond to the evolving challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The County of Wellington and all seven member municipalities will continue to monitor the situation closely and will be making appropriate changes as necessary. For the most up to date County information, please visit: www.wellington.ca or check our social media platforms.
