Fall Rural Romp Promotes Agriculture and Fall Foods

WELLINGTON COUNTY/GUELPH - The Rural Romp, a fall-favourite event for many locals and visitors to Wellington County, is taking place in an extended format for another year. Instead of a one-day farm and food tour, Taste Real has lined up virtual events and in-person farm and food experiences for the public to explore until October 31.

The Taste Real website highlights popular fall outings, such as pumpkin patches, apple picking, and agri-tourism experiences available locally. Rompers can also put together their own self-guided tour with the help of the Fall Flavours Map, an online local food map showcasing signature harvest products and fall tastes from over 50 Wellington County and Guelph farms and businesses. The public is encouraged to verify hours and details with businesses directly before visiting. Some agri-tourism experiences require advanced bookings.

“The Rural Romp is an excellent event to raise awareness about the great local food available in Wellington County, and how it is grown and raised,” says Economic Development Committee Chair George Bridge. “We encourage everyone to support local farms and food businesses and safely enjoy outdoor experiences this fall.”

In addition to in-person activities, the website also features a number of virtual options such as cooking classes, farm tour videos, events, and more.

New this year, is a Fall Rural Romp treasure hunt, colouring contest and activity kits that can be ordered for free from the Taste Real website.
