Economic Development receives EDAC Marketing Canada Award |
October 2023 - With the future of economic development in mind, Economic Development Association of Canada's (EDAC) Marketing Canada Awards have chosen to focus on highlighting up-and-coming best practices in marketing and community initiatives. The County of Wellington is the proud recipient of the 2023 EDAC Marketing Canada Award for a series of descriptive videos promoting local Wellington County Tourism. The videos cover nine unique ways to experience Wellington County including; local food, farm gate experiences, outdoor fun, horseback adventures, water sport destinations, and a series of winter outings. Versions of the videos with descriptive audio were also created to ensure that individuals of all ability levels could access the content. |

Local Food Fest wins Top Honor at 2015 Ontario Culinary Tourism Awards |
November 2015 - Wellington County's Taste Real Programme is the proud recipient of the Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance (OCTA) Award of Excellence for Event of the Year. The Local Food Fest is held annually in June at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre and Farm, attracting families, students, seniors and professionals. More than 50 exhibitors also took part offering prepared foods, craft beer samples, fresh produce and flowers. |

Taste Real Guelph Wellington Local Food wins the 2012 Ontario Culinary Tourism Award |
October 2012 - The award, presented to a community or organization that has taken on a leadership role in promoting culinary tourism in Ontario, was presented at the 8th Ontario Tourism Summit held in London from October 22 to 24, 2012. Over the past years, Taste Real has supported local farms, producers and small businesses to build stronger rural communities. It's mission is to grow one of the most vibrant local food economies and tourism destinations in Ontario. The Taste Real programme has over 120 partners including six founding partners that steer the strategic development of the programme. Municipal partners include the County of Wellington, City of Guelph, the Township of Centre Wellington, the Town of Minto, the Township of Wellington North and the Township of Mapleton. Developed on stakeholder engagement, Taste Real is built upon many successes of promoting local food that have taken place across the region, including the work originally started by Guelph Wellington Local Food at the Guelph Community Health Centre, under the leadership of Kate Vsetula. |
