The County of Wellington is exploring a provincial grant to fund a public transportation service. If successful, the grant would provide funding over a five year period and allow the implementation of an inter-community transportation service connecting the communities within the county to each other and to the City of Guelph.

The grant requires the participation from community partners to better coordinate existing resources and promote the service to residents, employees and clients in need of transportation.

 Grant Information

The Ministry of Transportation is releasing a new round of funding for community transportation initiatives. The new Community Transportation Grant Program – Municipal Stream (CT Program) builds on the two-year Pilot Program established in 2015, to fund the development of community transportation solutions to address local transportation needs, including ways to better utilize existing transportation resources.

 Community Response Survey

To assist the County of Wellington in understanding the potential demand for a public transportation service in our area, an online community survey was created. In total, 869 responses were received during the week the survey was open. The results confirmed community support, identified commuter patterns and substantiated the need in our community.

If the application is successful, additional community consultations will be held.
