Frozen Treats

Not just for a hot summer day - ice cream is definitely one of our best loved desserts year-round. Mapleton’s Organic Dairy’s dandelion ice cream is one of Wellington’s must tastes, but there are many other flavours and frozen treats to pick from. Here is a list of our favourite locally crafted ice cream and frozen treats. Stay cool!

Their handcrafted, small batch sheep milk gelato is made of grass-fed sheep milk and local, organic and Fair Trade ingredients. Visit their farm store, meet the sheep and try some of their great flavours – we recommend the chocolate gelato.  Delicious – and not just if you’re looking for a cow milk alternative!

Dairy free, refreshing and a rather ‘healthy’ treat – Laza’s brand new line of ice pops are sweetened only with local maple syrup. You can find them at the Guelph Farmers’ Market and many events throughout Wellington County. Favourite flavours are lemon ginger honey, pineapple jalapeno and banana chocolate.

It’s no secret that Wellington’s premier organic ice cream producer have made quite a name for themselves. Many of their flavours can be found in grocery stores and retailers across the province. We like to enjoy Mapleton's ice cream directly from the on-farm café where they offer a large selection of seasonal flavours including lavender, maple sugar and of course, dandelion. A visit with the cows is included!
