Not just for kids – local farms have created fun, educational and tasty ways for families to connect with agriculture.
You’ll find farm playgrounds, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and animal demonstration barns. Try out unique
activities, such as goat yoga, food workshops, and tours. Enjoy a BBQ lunch, a hot bowl of soup or a snack from the farm store.
Here are some of our favourite harvest and farm outings in Wellington County:
Farm Fun
Mapleton’s Organic Dairy
Always worth a stop – and not just because of the farm-made organic ice cream. Visit their animal demonstration barn and see a variety of farm animals including alpacas, ducks, chicken, pigs and more. Meet the dairy cows and calves, and see the friendly pygmy goats. Adventure seekers can explore the tire mountain, barefoot path and cedar maze in their Farm Adventure Area. Take a family photo at their fall display or go on a wagon ride. Make sure to try some of the delicious ice cream flavours or home-made foods in the on-farm café.
Please visit Mapleton’s website for up-to-date hours, fees and special events.
Strom’s Farm and Bakery
Strom’s Farm corn mazes are legendary – they have been raising money for local charities since 2002. The corn maze (over 6km of trails) is part of a huge Harvest Fun Area which features a wide variety of activities for all ages – tile, rope and straw mazes, wagon rides, pedal carts, cedar spiral, sand pit, and human foosball. On weekends you can also enjoy pumpkin chuckin', wagon rides and puppet shows, as well as 'Eats and Embers' fire pits and snacks. Any visit to Strom’s farm isn’t complete without picking out your perfect pumpkin from the thousands laid outside their market or browsing their bakery for the perfect fall treats.
