Ag Societies

Agriculture Societies across Wellington County host their annual fall fairs to celebrate our agricultural heritage, present and future and provide educational opportunities for the public.

While fall fairs had to be cancelled in 2020, many have spared no efforts to move online.

College Royal is the largest university open house event of its kind in North America. Each March since 1925, the University of Guelph opens its doors to the general public in a campus-wide open house that attracts thousands of visitors every year.

This year’s Open House weekend will consist of both live and pre-recorded events! This includes CR classics including Old Mac's New Farm, lovely Livestock Shows, our family-favourite Dog Show, purr-fect Cat Show, and annual Art Show! TVOKids is hosting 'Gabby's Farm', an educational children's show featuring 6 year old host Gabby, as she introduces children to life on the farm. Gabby's farm is located near Eden Mills ON, and she walks viewers through her every day chores, farm tours, and visits the farm animals. Gabby was also spotted visiting some local farms in Wellington County including, Strom’s Farm & Bakery, Mapletwiss Farm, Heartwood Farm & Cidery, River’s Edge Goat and Dairy and Elliot Tree Farm. Aiming to raise awareness and spread knowledge to a pre-school audience, Gabby's Farm is a great way for others to explore local farms, food experiences, and learn about agriculture in a safe, fun and engaging manner.
