Donate to our COVID-19 Time Capsule

We need your help to document this unprecedented moment in history! How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your life? Create a diary, scrapbook, video, or take photographs and consider donating your records to the WCMA.

Items we're looking for:

  • Handmade face mask sewn by a resident of Wellington County
  • Diaries, letters, or other documents that capture your thoughts, emotions, and activities during this difficult year
  • Handmade lawn signs with positive messages ("Thank you front line workers!", "Be Kind!", etc.)
  • Invitations to weddings, baptisms, bridal/baby showers, funerals, birthdays, or other events that were affected by the pandemic (e-vites to "Zoom" events count!)
  • Crafts, artwork, or other creative projects created during lockdown periods
  • Photographs and videos that capture moments of your life during the pandemic (e.g. Zoom recordings, "pandemic haircuts", photos of improvised home office/study spaces, photos/videos of new hobbies, home fitness routines, etc.)

For more information, please contact Karen Wagner, Archivist.

Donate to our Collection

Our mandate is to collect, preserve, and research, interpret and exhibit artifacts and archival records that reflect and document the settlement and development of the County of Wellington.

The majority of the items in our collections have been donated to us. If you have something of interest that is connected to the people, places or organizations of Wellington County, please contact the Archivist or the Curator to discuss a possible donation.

A meeting with staff is usually arranged to determine if we will accept the donation or not. Staff will make house calls and will come out to your home or business, at your convenience, to discuss a possible donation to the collection.

All donations are carefully documented and catalogued so that a permanent record is kept detailing the history of each donation. Donors are asked to sign gift forms releasing ownership.

Items that are accepted into the collection are appraised by an independent appraiser at the end of each calendar year. The donor will receive an income tax receipt for the appraised value of the item.

Donate to the Archives

The Archives relies on donations to expand its collection. If you are unsure about the records in your home, office or organization, please contact the Archivist before discarding.
