Planting Trees Today for a Healthier Tomorrow

In 2004, The Green Legacyᴼᴹ was a simple idea to plant 150,000 trees to celebrate the County's 150 year anniversary. That idea has grown to over two million trees planted in the County of Wellington by community partners, making it the largest municipal tree planting programme in North America.

Did you know that many of our trees are grown from locally sourced seeds which are collected by Green Legacy staff and volunteers. Beginning in March, our volunteer opportunities will be open! We are looking forward to growing trees with you again!

In 2022 Green Legacy will celebrate planting 3 million trees. Thank you to County residents for your continued support.

Whether this is your first year planting a Green Legacy tree or you have been planting with us for years, we want to see them all!. Show off your planting and photo skills and maybe even win a fun prize. More details coming soon!
