Does the County of Wellington accept general resumes?

No. The Human Resources Department does not accept or retain unsolicited resumes. 

How often are positions posted on the County of Wellington website?

Positions available to the public are posted on the website as they become available. It is important to visit the website regularly to check for job opportunities. Check out our Careers page for a complete list of current postings.

How do I apply for a position with the County of Wellington?

If you meet the minimum requirements of an open position and would like to apply, please submit your cover letter and resume using one of the following methods:

Attach your cover letter and resume to your email. 

PDF files are preferred, but Microsoft Word and Rich Text Formatted (RTF) documents are also accepted.  Applicants who submit documents in alternate formats may be asked to resubmit.

How do I apply for a position at Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home?

If you meet the minimum requirements of an open position at Wellington Terrace and would like to apply, please submit your cover letter and resume using one of the following methods:

Can I apply to more than one position at a time?

Yes. You are able to apply for all positions that match your qualifications and experience. If applying for more than one posting, please submit a separate resume with posting number for each position you are applying for.

Are there cut off dates for sending resumes/applications?

Yes. Resumes must be submitted by the date and time indicated on the job posting. Late applications will not be accepted.  

Will I be contacted after my resume is submitted?

All resume submissions will be acknowledged with an email confirming the receipt of your application. Additional correspondence from our office will only be made if you have been selected for an interview. No phone calls please.

Does the County of Wellington hire summer students?

Yes. Typically, we begin accepting applications for summer student positions in January of each year. In order to qualify for summer student employment, students must be currently attending a secondary or post-secondary institution on a full-time basis, and be returning to school on a full-time basis in the fall semester.

Do I need to get a Police Vulnerable Sector Check to apply for a job?

No. You do not need a Police Vulnerable Sector Check to apply for a job at the County of Wellington.  However, if you are offered the position, you will be required to provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check if it is a requirement of the position.

Will I be asked to provide references for the position I applied to?

Yes. We perform reference checks for all positions prior to making any employment offer. You will typically be asked to provide the names of two supervisory references during your interview. 

How do I request an accommodation for my interview?

The County of Wellington will contact successful applicants to schedule interviews. At that time, make your accommodation request known. Please visit our Accessibility page to learn more.

Why wasn't I contacted for the job I applied to even though I'm qualified?

The County of Wellington receives a high volume of resumes for each advertised position. While you may be qualified for the position, in the County's view, there are other applicants whose qualifications and experience is greater than what has been presented in your resume.
