County Councillor Ward 5 Vacancy

After conducting interviews for the County Councillor Ward 5 vacancy, the Warden’s Advisory Committee will be recommending the appointment of Mary Lloyd to Council for approval at the March 29, 2018 County Council session.

It will also be recommended that Mary Lloyd fill the vacancies on the Social Services and Information, Heritage, and Seniors Committees.

Interviews will be conducted by the Warden’s Advisory Committee on Monday March 12, 2018 and Tuesday March 13, 2018 (if needed). The Committee will recommend the appointment at the March 29, 2018 Council meeting.

Take notice that a vacancy exists on the County of Wellington Council for the Ward 5 Councillor position. Council has determined that it wishes to fill the vacancy by appointment as provided for in the Municipal Act, 2001.

The term of this position is from the date of Council appointment on March 29, 2018 for the balance of the Council term until November 30, 2018.

A nominee for municipal office must be a qualified municipal elector as set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. Qualified electors must be:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • A Canadian Citizen;
  • A resident in the County of Wellington, or an owner or tenant of land in the County, or the spouse of an owner or tenant; and
  • Not prohibited from voting under any other Act or disqualified from holding municipal office.

Interested Nominees are requested to submit an expression of interest by 2:00pm on March 9, 2018, along with the mandatory completion of a Consent of Nominee Form and a Declaration of Qualification through the County of Wellington Clerk’s Office. Certified registered Nominees will be interviewed by the Warden’s Advisory Committee.
