The Engineering Services Department has two divisions, Roads and Solid Waste Services. Engineering staff work with residents, member municipalities, surrounding municipalities, provincial and federal government agencies, conservation authorities, contractors, and many other organizations to provide safe and efficient services.
Our main office is located at the County Administration Centre at 74 Woolwich St. in Guelph, Ontario. In addition, we provide services throughout the County at eight garages, one bulking station, five transfer stations and one landfill site.
Roads Division
The Roads Division provides a safe transportation network for people and products. Roads staff ensures road safety by operating and maintaining:
- 37 sets of traffic signals
- 21 four-way and single flashing beacons
- 149 sentinel lights at rural intersections
- 665.7 km of roadways
- 108 bridges
- 85 box culverts

Solid Waste Services
Solid Waste Services provides programmes for collecting, diverting or disposing of municipal solid waste and recyclables. Responsibilities include overseeing:
- One active landfill site and five transfer stations
- 16 closed landfill sites
- Curbside collection for urban areas (weekly) and rural areas (bi-weekly)
- Household Hazardous Waste recycling and disposal
- Electronics recycling and disposal
- Diversion opportunities for wood, metal, tires, textiles
