Construction and Demolition


 

Tipping fee increase from 75 to 80 per tonne

 

Materials known as C and D waste (drywall, shingles, bricks, wood, metals etc.) are accepted as regular wastSWS logoe at County facilities. All sites will accept small quantities, but larger loads must go to Riverstown.

General waste fees apply:

  • $15 per carload, $30 per pickup truck or trailer load at sites without scales
  • $80 per metric tonne at scaled facilities - minimum $15

Please consider recycling opportunities during renovation or construction projects. If you are not sure of what to do with a material, visit the County's Recyclopedia or Wellington Reuses website. When possible, segregate the materials so that recycling opportunities can be maximized.

Some construction or renovation materials need special preparation and arrangements before bringing to a County waste facility:

 Asbestos
  • all asbestos must be delivered to Riverstown waste facility since it must be buried immediately upon receipt
  • loose asbestos must be double bagged in heavy duty plastic and tied closed
  • larger asbestos sheets that can't fit into a bag should be kept whole
  • arrangements must be made through the Operations Superintendent at least 48 hours in advance
  • inform site attendant of load contents
  • follow site attendant's instructions once you check in at the scale house
  • general waste fees apply
    • $80 per metric tonne - minimum $15
  • in the disposal of asbestos, a manifest is not necessary

    • The receipt given to the carrier would be presented as proof that the product was disposed of in a responsible way
 Clean Fill

Small amounts

  • will be accepted at all waste facilities
  • general waste fees apply:

    • $15 per carload, $30 per pickup truck or trailer load at sites without scales
    • $80 per metric tonne at scaled facilities - minimum $15

Larger amounts

  • Riverstown Waste Facility will take larger amounts
  • arrangements must be made through the Operations Superintendent at least 48 hours in advance
  • waste fees may apply, contact the Operations Superintendent for more information
  • inform site attendant of load contents and any arrangements made
  • follow site attendant's instructions once you check in at the scale house
 Concrete and Rubble

Small quantities

  • will be accepted at all waste facilities
  • staff do have the right to re-direct loads if necessary
  • general waste fees apply

    • $15 per carload, $30 per pickup truck or trailer load at sites without scales
    • $80 per metric tonne at scaled facilities - minimum $15

Larger quantities

  • will only be accepted at Riverstown Waste Facility 
  • arrangements must be made through the Operations Superintendent at least 48 hours in advance
  • inform site attendant of load contents and any arrangements made
  • follow site attendant's instructions once you check in at the scale house
  • general waste fees apply

    • $80 per metric tonne - minimum $15
 Contaminated Soil
  • will only be accepted at Riverstown Waste Facility 
  • arrangements must be made through the Operations Superintendent at least 48 hours in advance
  • results of laboratory sampling may be required before disposal
  • regular waste fees will apply

    • $80 per metric tonne - minimum $15
 Fibreglass
  • will only be accepted at Riverstown Waste Facility 
  • material must be double bagged in heavy duty plastic
  • arrangements must be made through the Operations Superintendent at least 48 hours in advance
  • follow site attendant's instructions once you check in at the scale house
  • general waste fees apply

    • $80 per metric tonne - minimum $15
