The County of Wellington operates one landfill site and five transfer stations. All rural and urban households and businesses within the County of Wellington (excludes City of Guelph) may use any of the sites. The landfill site accepts large and small loads, and the transfer stations only accept small loads. Please consider reuse options before landfilling items others might find useful.

Disposal Fees

  • garbage does not have to be in a yellow user pay garbage bag for drop-off at waste facilities

    • if it is, there is no charge
    • otherwise, bagged waste is $2 per bag - no HST
  • sites with weigh scales charge $125 per metric tonne - minimum $15
  • sites without scales, staff will visually assess waste loads and apply the appropriate fee
  • flat fees may apply to individual items (e.g. furniture)
  • payment is required at time of drop-off by cash, cheque, debit, credit, or business credit account
