Plant Earth IconThe County of Wellington produces approximately 1.2 million tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) per year of greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, buildings, agriculture and solid waste.


Emissions from Fossil Fuels

Transportation (70%) is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels, followed by commercial/industrial buildings (18%), then residential buildings (12%).


 Emissions from Biogenic (biological) Sources

Enteric fermentation (48%) is the largest contributor of greenhouse gases from biogenic (biological) sources, followed by soil management (26%), manure management (22%), solid waste (3%), and liming/urea application (1%).
