Children with disabilities and special needs in licensed child care
The County of Wellington Children's Early Years Division partners with community service agencies to support licensed child care programmes to care for all children.
This means that children with disabilities and special needs are able to fully participate in child care programmes. The Enhanced Support System has a team of community service agencies that work with families and child care staff to ensure this happens. The Enhanced Support System is a partnership of:
- County of Wellington Children's Early Years Division
- Kidsability Centre for Development
- Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington
There is no cost to families for the programmes.

Inclusive Early Childhood Service System Project
The Inclusive Early Childhood Services System Project is asking families of children with disabilities about their experiences with inclusive early childhood services. The County of Wellington, Children's Early Years division is supporting the recruitment process as we hope to learn more about how early childhood services are meeting the needs of children with “atypical development”, “special needs”, “disability”, or “gifts”.
