Tenant Insurance Policy ~ Effective January 1, 2019

The County of Wellington Housing Services requires that all tenants obtain and maintain tenant insurance to insure the Tenant's property against loss or damage. Tenants are required to provide proof of insurance to the Landlord prior to the lease signing and again on an annual basis, when the current policy renews. Failure to maintain tenant insurance coverage will result in termination of tenancy.

Smoke Free Policy ~ Effective January 1, 2018

The County of Wellington Housing Services has adopted a Smoke Free Policy effective January 1, 2018. All new tenancies and common areas of the building will be affected by this policy.

Housing Services Act, 2011 ~ Effective January 1, 2012

The Housing Services Act, 2011 replaced the Social Housing Reform Act on January 1, 2012. In 2010, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing released its Long Term Affordable Housing Strategy and introduced Bill 140, Strong Communities through Affordable Housing Act 2010. This legislation will set a new vision for housing in Ontario and focus on creating a social housing system that will improve access to adequate, suitable and affordable housing and provide a small foundation on which to secure employment, raise families and build strong communities.
