Welcome to Reaching IN…Reaching OUTOM. We offer resiliency skills training programmes to strengthen well-being and resilience in adults and children through role modeling and relationships.
Our training programmes teach adults resiliency skills to…
- Reach IN to develop healthy ways to cope with stress and tough times
- Reach OUT to find support and offer it to others
And then, we show adults how to help children by…
- developing caring relationships
- being positive role models
- passing along the resiliency skills to them.
Since 2002, Reaching IN…Reaching OUT (RIRO) has helped fuel resilience and support well-being in adults and young children under 8 years. In the context of caring relationships and role modeling, RIRO’s programmes teach adults “3Rs of Resilience” – relaxation and reflection skills to help them respond instead of simply reacting to challenging situations1.
As of early 2020, more than 10,000 educators, service providers, parents and caregivers have attended our two evidence-based resiliency skills training programmes:
- Reaching IN…Reaching OUTOM (RIRO) Resiliency Skills Training Programme for child care and early learning staff and service providers working with children under 8 years old and families
- Bounce Back & Thrive!OM (BBT) Resiliency Skills Training Programme for parents (and those in a parenting role) with children under 8 years old.
These programmes are delivered by authorized trainers through non-profit and public sectors in communities across Canada and beyond.
1 RIRO Skills Training Programme is based on The Resilience Factor (Karen Reivich and Andrew Shatté) and the Penn Resilience Program (an acclaimed resiliency promotion and depression prevention programme for school–age children) and has been adapted for young children from birth to seven years of age.
