Tips to make the most out of Ontario's berry season

  • When berry picking, go in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat of the day. Berries become softer when exposed to the hot sun.
  • Store fresh berries in the refrigerator with hulls intact, unwashed, and lightly covered in a single layer. Use within three to six days.
  • Pre-wash, dry, and store berries in a freezer bag for up to a year.
  • Turn berries into preserves, jam, or jelly - or eat them right away! Who can resist fresh, local fruit?

Did you know?

Berries are nutritious in so many ways! Just cup of strawberries packs in your daily quota for vitamin C.
