Hiring Process

Request Accommodation

We are committed to providing accessibility accommodations throughout the recruitment process. If you require accommodation please notify Human Resources by email or phone 519.837.2600 x2150 and we will work with you to meet your needs.

Screening

Applications are screened against the job description requirements by Human Resources and the Hiring Manager.

You will be contacted by email only if you are selected for an interview.

Please know that you may not be contacted for an interview even though you are qualified for the position.  We receive a high volume of resumes for each advertised position and while you may be qualified for the position, in the County's view, there are other applicants whose qualifications and experience is greater than what has been presented in your resume.

We appreciate your interest in career opportunities at the County of Wellington and encourage you to continue to apply to positions that match your qualifications.

Interviews

Candidates are typically interviewed by a panel comprised of the Supervisor and Manager of the vacant position and a representative from Human Resources.

You will be asked a series of questions that will allow the hiring panel to determine how closely you meet the requirements of the position.

In some instances, job-related testing may be administered and/or a second interview with selected candidates may occur as part of the process.

Interviews may be scheduled in-person or virtually.

References

In advance of your scheduled interview, you will be contacted by email to provide work-related references that are supervisory.

On occasion, an offer of employment may be extended before references have been completed.  In this situation, the offer of employment would be conditional on successful references.

Offer of Employment

The successful candidate will be contacted with a verbal offer.  This will be followed up with an online offer that is available through your Candidate Profile.

Please note that the offer of employment is the official employment contract and will not be formally considered accepted until we have received a signed version.  Condition of employment documents must immediately follow.

Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. This can take approximately three weeks from the date of the interview.

Onboarding

Once we have received a signed offer of employment, onboarding will be initiated.  You will be notified by email and directed to sign in to our HRIS, MyWell, to complete the required paperwork before your first day.
