County Trails

Whether you are looking for a quiet nature walk, breathtaking river views, heritage treasures, or a cycling village tour, the trails in Wellington County won't disappoint. With over 200 km of trails there is lots to explore.

The County owns and operates three trails at Wellington Place between Fergus and Elora (Trestle Bridge, Aboyne and Museum trails) and helps operate the Kissing Bridge Trailway through Guelph/Eramosa and Mapleton.

We are proud to showcase over 40 trails in our Wellington Walks trail guide, available to download or free of charge at County facilities.

County Forest Tracts

Wellington County owns over 1,200 acres of forest lands in 12 different forest tracts. They are managed to produce a variety of forest benefits: Environmental protection; Wood products; Recreation; Wildlife habitat.

The County has a Forest Management Plan for each of our Forest Tracts to ensure the lands are managed for environmental protection, wood products, passive recreation, and wildlife habitat.

Cycling

Cyclists will find well-maintained trails passing through our historic communities and agriculturally rich rural areas. Connections can easily be made to the Trans Canada Trail and the Guelph to Goderich Trail, and there are many options for scenic family-friendly rides. Signature Cycling Routes will be coming soon!
