12-Hour Resiliency Skills Training Programme for Child Care and Early Learning Staff and Service Providers
Caring and responsive relationships are the cornerstone to healthy child development in the early years; however research shows that we cannot offer responsive relationships to others if we are experiencing our own stress and dysregulation. We need the adults in the lives of young children to be regulated and well.
To respond with resilience to serious challenges requires a combination of inner strengths combined with the ability to access outside resources. That’s why Reaching IN...Reaching OUTᴼᴹ (RIRO) helps adults to build key strengths so they can reach in when they face stressful situations, and reach out to others and opportunities to deal more effectively with life’s ups and downs.
Children learn resiliency skills by watching adults model them. This simple idea is backed by many years of research and is central to our approach.
RIRO resiliency skills help practitioners first gain the skills they need to support their own well-being, resilience and regulation and then explores ways to model and support resilience skills with children under the age of 8 years and their families.
Our 12-hour Resiliency Skills Training Programme has been successfully delivered to nearly 10,000 service providers working in early learning, child care, education, community and mental health as well as other settings. The 12-hour evidence-based programme has several flexible delivery models designed to meet the individual needs of groups and organizations.
