Since 2006, the Green Legacy Programme has been organizing the Warden's Tree Planting event. Each year this event is attended by approximately 80-100 Wellington County and member municipality staff members, who get an opportunity to volunteer their time and plant trees. The planting sites are located within the Warden's municipality, and they vary from privately owned lands, schools, local parks to conservation authority lands and urban parks.
The staff has planted around 2,000-3,000 seedlings over the years, and the recent focus has been on planting larger potted stock. The event fosters team spirit, promotes a land ethic and is a way of building our Green Legacy.
