Alert Ready
Alert Ready is Canada’s emergency alerting system. Alert Ready delivers critical and potentially life-saving alerts to Canadians through television, radio and LTE-connected and compatible wireless devices.
Types of Emergencies
Tornados can be extremely dangerous and cause major destruction of property.
Our region experiences many types of winter storms like ice storms, blizzards, and extreme cold.
Occurs slowly and is caused by lack of rain, high temperatures and increased demand for water.
Can happen any time of the year and can bring lightning, heavy rain, hail, strong winds and tornadoes.
Can be dangerous for everyone, but people who work outdoors, elderly, and children are more at risk.
These are the costliest natural hazard in terms of property damage and are caused by melting snow, high lake levels, and heavy rains.
Pandemic occurs when an infectious disease spreads throughout the global population (example: COVID-19) and epidemic is usually contained within a region or country.
Power outages are often caused by freezing rain, sleet storms and/or high winds which damage power lines and equipment.
Farm animal disease emergencies may occur due to an outbreak of a disease or another animal health-related hazard.
