Winter Orchard Pruning at Ignatius Farm

Winter is pruning season in the community orchard, and we are hosting several hands-on pruning workshops in February. These sessions focus on healthy tree structure, airflow, and long-term orchard care, and they are a good way to learn practical skills while contributing directly to the health of the trees.

Feb 7 and 13 sessions will be run by Matt Soltys, The Urban Orchardist. All other sessions will be run by Ignatius Jesuit Centre Staff.

These workdays are also a good entry point for anyone curious about volunteering more regularly. Volunteers support many areas of work across Ignatius Jesuit Centre, including conservation projects, orchard and garden care, farm support, and seasonal events. Whether you can come once in a while or on a steady schedule, there are ways to contribute.
