Green Legacy

For the last 20 years, The Green Legacy has been strengthening our community's view towards the value of trees and our environment. Through interactive education and community involvement, over 3 million+ Green Legacy trees have been planted in our communities, increasing our forest cover and creating green infrastructure that will ensure ongoing environmental benefits.

About the Green Legacy

In 2004, The Green Legacyᴼᴹ was a simple idea to plant 150,000 trees to celebrate the County's 150-year anniversary. That idea quickly grew and, 3 million+ planted trees later, we are now the largest municipal tree planting programme in North America.

Our Nurseries

The County of Wellington operates two tree nurseries for the Green Legacy programme; the Bradford Whitcombe Green Legacy Tree Nursery (Puslinch) and the Northern Green Legacy Tree Nursery (Wellington North).

Warden's Tree Planting

Each year 80-100 County of Wellington and member municipality staff members volunteer their time and plant trees in our communities.
