Ottawa, Ontario – Today, at the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference, County Councillor Diane Ballantyne was elected to the AMO Board of Directors, representing the County Caucus for the 2024-2026 term.
The AMO Board of Directors is made up of municipal representatives from communities across Ontario. The board meets six times a year to discuss key municipal issues and develop policy positions and reports; it also serves as a support system for municipalities including offering cost-saving programmes, training opportunities and other helpful tools.
“On behalf of County Council and staff, I’d like to congratulate Councillor Ballantyne on being elected to the AMO Board of Directors,” said Warden Andy Lennox. “I am confident that she will bring a strong voice for Wellington County as she works with leaders from across Ontario to address important municipal concerns.”
Ballantyne is one of 38 elected and non-elected members of this governing body of AMO. AMO works to make our province’s municipal governments more effective by connecting all 444 municipalities throughout Ontario, so they can work together to achieve shared goals and meet common challenges.
“It is a privilege to be elected to the AMO Board of Directors representing the County Caucus,” said Diane Ballantyne. “I look forward to continuing the Board’s important work with municipalities across Ontario and I am proud to advocate for Ontario and Wellington residents.”
Councillor Ballantyne was first elected to Wellington County Council representing Ward 6 in 2018.
