WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON – At the April 27 County Council meeting, Council announced the purchase of 7.2 acres of land located adjacent to the existing Brucedale Garage site on Wellington Road 124.
The acquisition of this land will allow the County to rebuild and expand the Brucedale Garage facility to meet future needs.
With the purchase of the property, the County plans to rebuild both the Brucedale and Erin garages at their current sites on Wellington Road 124. The County’s budget forecast currently schedules these garages to be reconstructed starting in 2025.
“Our investment in our garage facilities will help the County to continue its high level of service of the County road network,” said Warden Andy Lennox.
There are eight County Road Garages throughout the County. Two garage facilities (Central, Drayton) have been replaced to date with a third garage in Arthur scheduled to be built starting in 2023. The Brucedale and Erin garages are the next two garages to be replaced.
“The future expansion of the Brucedale Garage will upgrade the facility and site to service the growing community needs,” commented Gregg Davidson, Roads Committee Chair.
The County plans to make a significant investment in roads capital infrastructure and public works facilities over the next ten years. This investment will include:
- $35.1 million in facility upgrades in Erin, Brucedale, Harriston and Aberfoyle
- $274.9 million for roads, bridges and culverts
By rebuilding at the two current sites, the Brucedale and Erin garage facilities will continue to provide service to these areas of the County’s road network.
