County of Wellington Launches Centralized Application and Waitlist for Licensed Child Care

Wellington County, Ont. – The County of Wellington will launch a centralized application and waitlist for licensed child care in April 2024 using OneHSN software. The online ‘Wellington-Guelph Child Care Application and Waitlist’ will be designed to simplify and facilitate the way families can find and apply for licensed child care services throughout our region.

The Wellington-Guelph Child Care Application and Waitlist system will include a number of features designed to meet the needs of families. Highlights include:

  • Multi-Programme Applications: The service will be able to manage applications to multiple licensed programmes, and for more than one child if needed.
  • Comprehensive Research Tools: Enables families to thoroughly explore licensed child care options, authorized recreational programmes overseen by the County, and services throughout Wellington-Guelph, including location maps.
  • Financial and Special Needs Support Information: Provides vital information on fee subsidies and special needs resources.
  • Flexible Access: Users can manage their online applications to different licensed programmes in one centralized location anytime, anywhere.
  • Enhanced Security: Ensures user privacy with a secure online platform.

"The introduction of this new system reflects the County of Wellington’s commitment to finding innovative solutions that address the needs of our residents,” commented Warden Andy Lennox. “Launching a centralized application and waitlist will make it significantly easier for families to navigate the quality licensed child care options available to them, helping our children have the best possible start in life."

Social Services Chair, Councillor David Anderson added, "The launch of the Wellington-Guelph Child Care Application and Waitlist system marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to enhance community services. This initiative is about more than convenience; it's about creating equitable access to child care for all families, leveraging technology to bridge gaps in our community."
