County of Wellington Wins Municipal Waste Association Award for Innovative Promotional and Educational Materials

Wellington County, Ont. – On May 27, Wellington County’s Solid Waste Services (SWS) received a Silver Promotion & Education (P&E) Award from the Municipal Waste Association (MWA) in the Campaign Category for municipalities serving fewer than 50,000 households. The award recognized the County’s “Beyond Blue Box Transition” business recycling campaign.

The MWA is a not-for-profit organization that has supported municipal waste management professionals across Ontario since 1987. Through education, networking, and knowledge sharing, the organization promotes innovation in waste reduction and diversion programmes.

The annual P&E Awards celebrate excellence in municipal communications and public education initiatives that encourage waste diversion and environmental stewardship.

“On behalf of County Council, I congratulate the Solid Waste Services and Communications teams on winning Silver for their ‘Beyond Blue Box Transition’ campaign,” said Steve O’Neill, Solid Waste Services Committee Chair. “It is an honour to receive this recognition from the Municipal Waste Association. The team's ongoing education and outreach efforts help residents and businesses make informed decisions and play an important role in the success of our waste diversion programmes.”
