Description of Work:
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained Egis to carry out the Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for the Highway 6 intersection improvements within the Township of Guelph/Eramosa, and the Township of Centre Wellington, Wellington County
The Detail Design was carried out in accordance with the approved environmental planning process for projects under the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities and Municipal Expressways (2024) for a Group ‘B’ project.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026, subject to province-wide clearances, approvals, and funding. Utility relocations and entrance work may be completed in advance, outside the MTO right-of-way (ROW). Traffic Impact:
During construction, at least one (1) lane of northbound and one (1) lane of southbound traffic will be maintained at all times on Highway 6 during peak hours. Detour routes for Wellington Road 22 and 8th Line will be implemented during different phases of construction.
Detour Route 1: Wellington Road 22 Detour Route
Wellington Road 22 between Jones Baseline and Highway 6 will be closed, allowing local traffic only. Traffic that requires access to this section of Wellington Road 22 will be detoured along Highway 6 to Guelph-Nichol Townline, to Jones Baseline to reach Wellington Road 22.
Detour Route 2: 8th Line Detour Route
8th Line between Wellington Road 7 and Highway 6 will be closed, allowing local traffic only. Traffic that requires access to this section of 8th Line will be detoured along Highway 6 to Wellington Road 51, to Wellington Road 7 to reach 8th Line.
Detour Route 1: Wellington Road 22 Detour Route

Description of Work:
County of Wellington staff will be conducting multiple culvert replacements along Wellington Road 2, between Elora Street and Wellington Road 3/Ayton Rd, in the Town of Minto.
Traffic Impact:
The road will be closed daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no through traffic, starting May 4 until early June. The actual section of road closed will change daily. For the most current information, check Municipal511.

Wellington Road 11, Simmons Bridge

Bridge Rehabilitation
Description of Work:
The County of Wellington has hired a contractor to complete bridge rehabilitation works on Simmons Bridge located on Wellington Road 11, 0.2 km north-east of Wellington Road 8, in the Township of Mapleton.
Traffic Impact:
The road will be closed at the bridge location, with no emergency access, starting May 19. During the closure, traffic will be re-routed along the posted detour route.

Description of Work:
The County of Wellington has hired a contractor to construct a roundabout on Wellington Road 18 at Second Line in the Township of Centre Wellington.
Traffic Impact:
The road will remain open, however, delays are expected and the use of an alternate route is recommended.
Geddes St (Wellington Road 18), Retaining Wall
Anticipated Project Timing: April 27 - August 2026

Retaining Wall Rehabilitation
Description of Work:
The County of Wellington has hired a contractor to install a new barrier wall and guide rail, and complete drainage improvements of the retaining wall on Geddes St (Wellington Road 18) in the Township of Centre Wellington.
Traffic Impact:
The road will be closed, with absolutely no through traffic, for the duration of the project. Pedestrian access will remain open.

Road Reconstruction and Bridge Rehabilitation Works
Description of Work:
The County of Wellington has hired a contractor to complete road reconstruction and bridge rehabilitation works on Wellington Road 52 in the Town of Erin. Road reconstruction will take place between Wellington Road 124 and Winston Churchill Blvd (Wellington Road 25). The bridge (Erin Bridge B052109) is located on Wellington Road 52, south of the Wellington Road 124 and Main Street intersection.
Traffic Impact:
Road reconstruction works are scheduled to begin May 4 and continue through mid-July. Local traffic will be permitted to travel through the construction zone; however, delays are expected and alternative routes is recommended. Access to local businesses will be maintained.
Bridge rehabilitation works will require a full bridge closure, during which no through traffic or emergency access will be permitted. The closure is anticipated to take place in July and is expected to last approximately two weeks. Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained via the posted detour route.

Wellington Road 109, Structure Replacements

Description of Work:
The County of Wellington has hired a contractor to complete capital construction works on Wellington Road 109, east of Highway 6 in the Township of Wellington North. This long-term infrastructure project includes the replacement of four structures and road resurfacing between them, with construction expected to continue through 2028. The project will commence with work on Bridge 10 and Culvert 5. Once these are underway, work will follow on Bridge 4 and Bridge 6. This project is funded in part by Ontario Builds.
Traffic Impact:
• Wellington Road 109 will remain open throughout the construction period.
• One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times.
• Lane width will be restricted to 3.3m (11 feet) and oversized equipment will need to use an alternate route. There is no load/weight restriction through the project limits.
• Traffic delays are anticipated, and we encourage the travelling public to consider using the suggested alternate route (see attached map) to avoid congestion and improve travel time.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve this important section of road infrastructure.

Anticipated Project Timing: Spring 2026 to late fall

Description of Work:
Jointly with the Town of Minto, this project will be completed over two construction seasons. Work under sections 1 and 3 will maintain one lane of traffic under temporary traffic control, while work under section 2 will be constructed under a full road closure to allow for efficient completion of extensive underground and surface works.
Section 1 - Toronto St to Cumberland St (Early Spring 2026 to late fall)
Work involves removing and replacing of existing asphalt, curb, sidewalk and boulevard, installing and commissioning new watermain, storm water management, staged construction of a roundabout at Toronto St. One lane of traffic will be maintained with possible detours during paving operations along with coordinated temporary driveway/sidewalk closures to maintain one-lane of traffic and landscaping.
Section 3 - Lorne St to East of Highway 23 (Early Spring 2026 to late fall)
Work involves removing and replacing existing asphalt, curb, sidewalk and boulevard, constructing a new sanitary sewer from Minto Rd to the west project limit, installing and commissioning a new watermain, and constructing a roundabout at Minto Rd.
Section 2 - Cumberland St to Lorne St (Early Spring 2027 to late fall)
Work involves removing and replacing existing asphalt, curb, sidewalk and boulevard, constructing a new sanitary sewer from Henry St to Lorne St, installing and commissioning a new watermain, adding decorative street lighting and traffic signals at William with a pedestrian crossover between Cumberland St and Whites Rd (Wellington Rd 5).
