Experimental Acres applications

Thank you so much for your interest in participating in the County of Wellington's 2026 Experimental Acres pilot. Experimental Acres supports farmers in Wellington, Dufferin and Grey County with the implementation of regenerative agriculture practices. Farmers know their land best, so we want to hear your ideas about practices to implement on your farm. Our pilot is designed to de-risk the learning season of a new practice by providing financial and education supports, and hopefully help prepare you for larger funding opportunities in the future.

If selected as a participant in this pilot, we have the following expectations for you: 

• Communicate openly about the planning, implementation, and monitoring of your Experimental Acres throughout the pilot
• Allow County staff to monitor Experimental Acres site (with notice)
• Be willing to participate in video production, photos, or 'Stories from the Field' to be used on social media (This is optional. A signed photo permission form will be requested if you choose to agree)
• Submit receipts related to Experimental Acres project costs before November 1, 2026
• Agree to sign a simple contract with the County of Wellington which outlines the basic steps needed for your Experimental Acres project to receive funding

If you are selected as a participant in this pilot, you can expect the County of Wellington to:

• Communicate openly about site monitoring visits and procedures taking place
• Share data collected from your farm with you (for example, soil tests, monitoring protocol results)
• Provide prompt reimbursement of costs associated with Experimental Acres project once receipts are submitted
• Provide support in soil testing and result analysis
• Share information about related events and programmes
