Wellington County, Ont. – After 41 years of outstanding public service with the County of Wellington, the County’s Director of Planning, Mr. Aldo Salis, recently announced his retirement, effective November 30, 2026.
Mr. Salis joined the County’s Planning Department in 1985 and has been the County’s Director of Planning since 2017.
“On behalf of County Council, staff, and the residents we proudly serve, I would like to sincerely thank Aldo for his 41 years of dedicated public service,” said Warden Chris White. “Aldo has always set a very high standard for himself, his staff, and the important work they produce. His extensive knowledge, experience, and professionalism will be missed around the County. We wish him the very best in his retirement.”
During his career with the County, Mr. Salis has been involved in the development and implementation of planning policy, provided direction on planning services, residential, commercial, and industrial developments, and advanced environmental and source water protection initiatives. He’s also overseen the County’s Emergency Management Division, Green Legacy Tree Planting Programme, and the Climate Change and Sustainability unit.
“The County has been fortunate to have had Aldo Salis in our Planning Department for 41 years,” said Scott Wilson, Chief Administrative Officer. “Aldo is one of the County’s longest serving employees and retires with an incredible reputation that is well-deserved. Aldo has had a remarkable career in public service. I wish him much happiness as he ventures into his retirement.”
Mr. Salis’ final County Council meeting will be on Thursday, September 24.
