Wellington County, Ont. – The County of Wellington is pleased to announce the launch of its newly upgraded online mapping system, Explore Wellington. Built on Esri’s ArcGIS platform, the new system will give residents, businesses, and municipal partners a faster, more intuitive way to explore geographic information across Wellington County.
The upgraded Explore Wellington platform modernizes the County’s existing GIS mapping system, offering improved performance, updated user experience, enhanced accessibility features, and a range of other tools that make searching, finding, and using geographic information easier.
While many of these GIS features are used by municipal staff across Wellington County, Explore Wellington is also the County’s public mapping application, allowing the public to search for addresses, street names, communities, park and trails, and turn on layers for points of interest such as community centres, libraries, post offices and much more. Users can also measure distances and areas, add their own text, shapes, and custom mapping data as needed.
New and enhanced Explore Wellington features include:
- A modern, mobile-friendly interface with faster map loading
- Enhanced navigation and search capabilities
- Improved accessibility features
- Improved sharing and printing options
- Enhanced drawing and annotation tools
- Expanded support resources
“Access to accurate, easy-to-use mapping information benefits everyone – from residents planning a walk on local trails, to municipal staff supporting daily operations, to businesses researching a new location,” commented Wellington County Warden, Chris
White. “These improvements to Explore Wellington reflect the County’s commitment to providing innovative digital services that improve accessibility, collaboration, and customer service throughout Wellington County.”
Built on a scalable foundation, the upgraded Explore Wellington platform is designed to support future growth, with the ability to add new datasets, mapping applications, and interactive features as community needs evolve.
