Wellington County's annual Fall Rural Romp returns on Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., inviting visitors to explore 23 farms and food destinations across southern Wellington County and the City of Guelph.
This free self-guided tour gives visitors the opportunity to experience local food and agriculture firsthand by meeting farmers and food producers, touring working farms, sampling locally made products, and discovering the people behind Wellington County's agricultural story. Now in its 21st year, the Rural Romp has become a signature agri-tourism experience, connecting visitors with the farms, businesses and communities that shape the region's local food landscape.
Participating locations throughout Centre Wellington, Erin, Guelph/Eramosa, Puslinch and the City of Guelph showcase the diversity of the region's agricultural sector. Visitors can meet alpacas, explore apple orchards and flower farms, sample locally crafted beverages, shop farm markets and greenhouses, and enjoy hands-on activities designed for all ages.
Event highlights include:
- Behind-the-scenes farm experiences, tours and opportunities to meet local producers and business owners
- Seasonal tastings featuring local food, beverages, honey, cider, spirits and farm-fresh products
- Family-friendly activities including wagon rides, corn mazes, farm animals, nature hikes and children’s activities
- Fall harvest experiences including orchards, pumpkin and flower patches, and garden inspiration
- Local shopping featuring farm markets, artisan goods, seasonal décor and locally made products
- Unique rural experiences including trails, tree planting, regenerative agriculture, food forests and more
The Fall Rural Romp is one of Wellington County's signature tourism experiences and helps support the local farms, food producers and rural businesses that contribute to the region's strong agricultural economy.
Social Media and Contest: Visitors are encouraged to share their Rural Romp experience using #RuralRomp, #ExperienceWellington and #TasteReal. Participants can also take part in the Rural Romp Treasure Hunt by answering questions at participating locations for a chance to win one of three $100 local food gift certificates.
Event Information: Admission is free. Some participating locations may charge fees for specific activities and have modified hours of operation.
