Wellington County, Ont. – The Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) is delighted to announce its victory as the Top Small Museum/Art Gallery/Historic Site at the 2024 Ontario’s Choice Awards. This prestigious accolade, awarded by Attractions Ontario, recognizes the WCMA's outstanding contributions to preserving and sharing the rich history of Wellington County.
The Ontario’s Choice Awards are unique in their selection process, relying solely on public votes to determine the winners across various categories. This year’s announcement was made on September 9, 2024, at a special event in Toronto, celebrating the top attractions across the province.
“We are immensely proud to be recognized as the Top Small Museum/Art Gallery/Historic Site,” said Mary Lloyd, Information, Heritage and Seniors Chair. “To be on a short list of winners that includes the Aga Khan Museum and the Toronto Zoo reflects the dedication of our team and the ongoing support of our visitors and community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted for us and helped us achieve this honour.”
The WCMA’s victory highlights its role as a cherished cultural and historical resource in Wellington County. The museum’s engaging exhibits, festivals and events, educational programs, and commitment to preserving local heritage have garnered enthusiastic support from the public.
In addition to this win, the WCMA was also nominated for the Top Museum/Art Gallery/Historic Site category, further demonstrating its broad appeal and excellence.
The Ontario’s Choice Awards celebrate the best in Ontario’s tourism and attractions sector, with winners chosen based on consumer votes. This year’s top vote-getters across all categories include the Aga Khan Museum, Little Canada, and City Sightseeing Toronto, with the overall Attraction of the Year Award to be revealed at the Ontario Tourism Summit Awards Gala in October 2024.
