Wellington County Closures and Interruptions to Service Due to Inclement Weather

Wellington County, Ont. – Due to inclement weather and a forecast calling for continued hazardous travel, the County of Wellington will be closing the following facilities on Tuesday, December 30, 2025:

  • All County Administration Offices
  • All Social Services Help Centres and Offices
  • All Solid Waste Services facilities (curbside collection is still scheduled to proceed)
  • All Wellington County Library branches
  • The Wellington County Museum and Archives
  • Mount Forest, Palmerston, and Aboyne Child Care and Learning Centres
  • RideWell Rural Transit Service

Essential services that will continue to operate where possible include:

  • Snowplows and road maintenance
  • Wellington Terrace Long Term Care Home
  • Curbside collection services operated by Waste Management
  • Willowdale Child Care and Learning Centre

This decision has been made in the interest of public and employee safety, as road and weather conditions across Wellington County are expected to remain challenging or worsen through Wednesday.

Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel and to only go out if essential. The public is also advised to continue monitoring Environment Canada for weather updates and Municipal 511 for current road conditions.

Additional information related to service interruptions, closures, and cancellations will be shared at www.wellington.ca/emergencyupdates and via the County’s social media channels.
